How you CAN and CAN'T get HIV

Ø    Exchanging semen

Ø    Vaginal and cervical secretion, blood, and breast milk

Ø    Unprotected sex (vaginal, anal, oral)

Ø    Sharing of needles

Ø    You can tell by looking at someone whether or not they are infected….

Ø    During anal intercourse, only the person on the receiving end is at risk…

Ø    People who have HIV get sick quickly…

Ø    Having just one boyfriend or girlfriend at a time protects you from HIV…

Ø    If a man pulls out before “Cumming” (ejaculating) then having unprotected sex is safe...

Ø    HIV does not go through unbroken skin…

Ø    A person has to have a lot of partners to be at risk of having HIV…

Ø    AIDS can be cured…

 

HOW ARE HIV AND AIDS RELATED?

Ø    Human Immunodeficiency Virus

Ø      Infects those who engage in behavior that allows the virus to be transmitted

Ø      Virus attacks and infects CD4 cells in the immune system that helps the body resist infection

Ø      After entering, HIV takes over, and uses cells to manufacture more HIV, gradually killing the CD4 cells

Ø      When the body can no longer fight off  infections and cancers, the infection enters its final stage, AIDS!

 

Ø    Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome

 

Ø      Final stage of HIV after body can no longer fight infections
