Our City is facing a crisis |
|
- Over 15,000 HIV/AIDS cases were reported in Baltimore City in 2005.
- Over 6,000 people are living with AIDS.
- Nearly 90% of HIV/AIDS cases are among African-Americans.
- The Baltimore metropolitan area is ranked tenth in the nation for the number of prevalent(living) AIDS cases.
- Maryland had the third highest annual AIDS case report rate of any state in 2005 (28.5 cases per 100,000 population) and Baltimore-Towson had the second highest rate of any major metropolitan area in 2005 (40.4 cases per 100,000 population).
- The national AIDS rate is 14.0 cases per 100,000 population.
- Males make up 60% of all HIV/AIDS cases in Baltimore City. Females make up 40% of the cases.
